About Lil-Ponderosa Poms
Lil-Ponderosa Poms , owned by Ron & Sherry Cartwright is situated on 5 acres in Elk Mound, WI. We came up with our kennel name from a TV Western show "Bonanza" on which the Cartwright family called their property "The Ponderosa". Since we are much smaller, the name "Li'l Ponderosa" fits our homestead perfectly.
Ron brought the first pom home years ago, and it was love at first sight for me as soon as I saw that little fluff of orange. A decade later I was introduced to dog shows by an elderly friend. It was then that I also discovered that poms came in "other" colors. Yippie ~ I was in heaven!
We like parti-colors, brindle and all the other beautiful colors that poms now come in. Although we may like many colors we have chosen to breed mainly orange, brindle and parti with our focus being on quality and something for us to show in the ring. And since there is no perfect dog yet, we have been purposely combining certain physical characteristics as well as color with the intention of creating show-quality colors toward my goals.
Working full time and the need to travel for a show make it difficult for us to get away as often as I wanted to in the past, but we show when we can; hopefully the future will allow for getting away more.
To our mentors, family & friends who have made it possible for our humble beginnings with poms, Thank you from the bottom of my heart. As there were many life events in our past that kept us from our goals I feel we are just now beginning.
